Using the ZigBee central unit, you can quickly expand the home automation system with wireless products such as flood sensors, temperature sensors, opening sensors, motion sensors or thermostat heads.

Of course, the MESH - ZigBee network also includes devices powered by 230 V (sockets, switches, light bulbs), which at the same time become signal amplifiers for other devices powered by batteries! This way you can create a perfectly large mesh network.

The NOUS E1 central unit is characterized by high compatibility with many ZigBee devices from different manufacturers. It is not a device designed only to work with a specific product line of one brand.

ZigBee protocol - Mesh network

ZigBee is a system based on a secure protocol that, among other things, enables the wireless operation of home appliances powered by batteries with a long operating time.

ZigBee differs from a classic WiFi network primarily in that it has a sufficiently long battery life (which is not possible with the classic WiFi protocol).

In addition, selected ZigBee devices (powered by 230 V mains) will become part of the Mesh network. This means that if the module cannot connect directly to the ZigBee gateway, it communicates with it through another closest accessory of this system. Repeaters in the ZigBee ecosystem are 230 V powered devices.

This makes it possible to create an extensive network that can operate at much greater distances than a classic WiFi network.

Pairing with the application

Connect the device to a power source and wait approximately 30s.

The newly connected device is already in pairing mode (the red LED flashes quickly).

In the NOUS Smart Home application, add a new device -> category: Gateway Control -> select Gateway (ZigBee).

After the pairing is complete, you can start using the device. If the LED does not flash quickly, you can reset the device by holding the RESET button for about 5-8 seconds. After a while, the red LED should start flashing quickly again (not to be confused with slow flashing - AP mode - press the button again for 5-6 seconds).

Since automation is managed by a central unit (gateway), the programmed rules will be implemented regardless of WiFi access or in the absence of an Internet connection.
